My Wish Room Wish list

So before my wish list a quick update on my room, Ive finally installed my curtains and i chose a different fabric something plain as i think the black damask was a litle too heavy and took the attention away from my chandelier ill post a picture of it soon

I finally had the time to take the vintage pillars i got in evangelista into A and F lamps in gilmore (in my opinion their the cheapest and reliable lamp supplier in manila).

Heres the shade I chose but it will be done in a black duchess satin material with a metallic silver panned lame on the inside.

It will be a week before I get it and im very much excited.

So there a blank wall in my room and i was thinking of creating a space where i could place artwork or my mirror in it (it is in the process being painted black)

so I got some pegs online heres my inspiration:

Okay before I make my dream into a reality I need this made, Its a desk yes but I would be making it custom made into a console table! except that the legs have to be in black. I have tried 3 suppliers already, one closed down but upon extreme googling today I was able to chance upon Vannie's Blog who made a similar post about finding a mirrored console table as well! Unfortunately the supplier we were both aiming for had indeed closed down and well through Vannie's help i may soon be in the possesion of the table!

Im also dreaming of this Kartell Bourgie Lamp that would be placed on top of the console table, I was chatting with a friend from Singapore just the other day who lives just near the Kartell Flagship Store in SG!! He would try to check the prices at the store as it may be cheaper there compared here plus its SG sale month so I might be in for some freebies!!

Next and probably the last thing I would purchase is the Kartell Lou Lou Chair designed by Philippe Starck. Ive always wanted to have one and My room wouldnt be complete without me, its so me. Its classic yet the plastic makes it so modern

I also got new sheets that my lola got for me in the states! im planning to pair them with these pillow cases that i got from Linens Direct by Daphne Osena that are in black and white damask

Also got new table cover books from amazon.com cant wait to start reading them!

So thats all for now folks im really excited for my room to finish and I shall post pics when all of it is complete!

Redecorating my room: UPDATE

Ive been sick these couple of days so its a nice excuse to stay home and well focus on my redecorating.

Theyve finished painting the walls im waiting for the smell of paint to disappear before i can actually sleep! My curtains still have to be made and placed.. and my lamps still have to be done but this is how it looks like as of today...

Im really liking the gray and white! plus my Carlo Eustaquio Black and white "Imelda" art piece is perfect for my new color scheme
I still have to arrange the wires of my tv and play around with arranging the frames and books!

Ok thats all for now I still have alot of work to finish :) wher contruction/interiors is hard!

The place was absolutely amazing it was very luxxe indeed.

The party was so nice it was nice to see everyone dressed beautifully! but it was so much nice to see friends whom i havent seen for the longest time!

Redecorating my room

My apologies if I havent blogged lately, I have been very busy trying to cope up with fashion week and clients.

I think I deserved a reward for working so hard this season that I decided I would finally redecorate my room.

It started with this chandelier, I think it bests reflects me, Classic but modern because its in black.

My room color i wanted something dark like gray as dark tones really relax and inspire me, I will be having white accents though
Vintage pieces that I bought in Evangelista that were reworked and repainted by Anton B., Im still looking for the time to bring them to A and F lights to get them rewired and place shades in them im thinking black duchess satin with silver lame on the inside.

I have shelving units designed by me Bibi (hes a frustrated interior designer but boy is he good!)

And lastly my fabric swatch that I found in shell canvas, I will be using these as curtains and maybe throw pillows (im still not really convinced on this i would prefer to have a white base than a black)

Im still dreaming of getting that louis IV black ghost chair by Philippe Starck i saw in gb5 the other day.. who knows right? lol Will definately post pics when it has all been done im very excited!

My Graduation Collection - inspired by the obituary

The task was to create a collection based from a part of the newspaper, I got the Obituary.

The song "mon dieu" (my god) by Edith Piaf was constantly playing while i was sketching/draping, I think this was the song she dedicated to her one and only love Marcel when he died, so you could really feel the emotion and grief. Edith's Songs has always been an inspiration for me while i design so i dedicated/entitled this collection to her.

Changing my Skincare Products

Okay so im in the process of cleaning out my toiletries cabinet and at the same time throwing out the products i have used for years, No offese L'oreal for men but I think its time to start purchasing new items in my "kikay" kit.

Lab Skin Care Night recovery lotion, Im a firm believer that we rejuvenate when we are asleep therefore our skin needs as much moisture at night, also helps the prevention of aging

To those who know me well, you very much know that my sleep schedule is Sh*t, what better way to avoid problems with your under eyes by using this product (in my case I tend to look really tired sometimes because of my dark undereyes)

Diptyque Colognes, I think theres something obscene with wearing perfume during summer and with the hot weather we are experiencing now rather unpleasant to smell musky. I was able to smell these colognes in Rustans the other day and they are very much fresh but still very much luxxe.

Clinique for men face scrub, Im seriously in love with this product line and im very much happy with the results of the toner and moisturizer!

My Saigon Holiday

Me and my siblings always look forward every holy week and Christmas because it is the time when our family travels and explore new places together. It is only twice a year that we are complete and together so it is more of like bonding for us. (also a great excuse to shop to our hearts contents because we have our mom to finance our shopping) our trips abroad are always memorable as we are like kids again fooling around and playing pranks to each other, talking about our lives and our futures and really spending that much needed quality time that we rarely have an oppurtinity to share in Manila because of everyones busy schedules.

This Holy Week, We explored Saigon in Vietnam. here are some of our pics

We are a family of Steak Lovers, every time we travel we try to research on where the best place to eat steak is, As of what we heard it was the New York Steak House and Winery

It was als great to have seen Jenny Y and her friends there! Theresa, Jenny's friend was celebrating her birthday in Temple Club, now to those of you who doesnt know, Temple Club is a Vietnamese restaurant where Bradd Pitt and Angelina Jolie had a date in!

Now for the goods i took home! To be quite honest, the clothes being sold there werent really that nice, Id still prefer to shop in Bangkok because its Cheaper and much more updated in trends, BUT they did have some wonderful home accessories that i just couldnt resist to take home!

I bought a set of these beautiful Boxes made out of silver studs (each stud is hammered by hand to create this beautiful shape and texture) and raw semi - precious stones. Do not let the pictures fool you! these things are huge! I had to wrap each one carefully and hand carry them home! ( I never trust PAL or any airline with handling of my luggage)
Bought these Beaded little bags to give as presents to friends, and these Bastos Cigarettes to give away to Zarina, Peewee and Anton kasi BASTOS KAYO! ahahaha kidding
Also got a set of this inlay plates and tissue box made out of mother of pearl and Capiz shells. They look lovely in my room as i use them to place my Toiletries and Kikay stuff for my face.

On the way back home I still had some local money so I went around the duty free in the airport and decided to try Clinique for men Products ;)

and then its back to Manila, Where the cutest dog in the world picked me up at the airport

Mrs. O has donated her Jason Wu inaugural gown to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History for a new exhibit entitled "a first lady's debut" which will showcase 11 other inaugural gowns of other first ladies.

I so wish I could get a flight right now to see the exhibit! that is definately one of the things i must do in this life time.

Im once again sorry if I havent updated lately, I was having a honey moon (more like a shopping trip) in Bangkok! 5 days and 4 nights of memorable times with me and hubby. It was really such a great experience for us, and we really bonded as a couple, we both cant wait to come back! anyways we shopped like crazy! our suit cases were so full of goodies! It was hubby's 1st time in BKK and he said that he will miss the food the most! I do have to agree as we tried alot of street food together! Here are some pictures of the goodies!

Now speaking about travel, I followed RCXYB's advice to come try out the personalized Louis vuitton bags at their website, and heres what i got!

Its time to work hard and save save save! ahaha wouldnt it be nice lurking in the airport with little shirts, a nice crisp white long sleeve shirt, and your favorite Tod's Loafers while carrying these bags with you? (Note to self: If ever i do get these i have to make sure to show them to the person checking them in and be extra friendly because they may upgrade my seat ahahaha)

Time to prepare for my next trip, as i am leaving for Vietnam in 10 days! woohoo!

1. Louis Vuittion Damier Graphite Roadster Bag, i love the new Damier Graphite its much more masculine and much more discreet, its also a new shape for the L.V. Im also the type of person who goes to alot of places one day and try to avoid going home to get stuff, so it would be perfect to place everything in just one bag!

2. Bvlgari STC necklace, saw this the other day in greenbelt and i was surprised that it was actually quite affordable for a Bvlgari necklace. The Stc necklace is done in silver and a part of the proceeds would go to a charity to benefit children! so u can look chic and help the less fortunate as well.

According to Diane Pernet of A Shaded View on Fashion: “This is not a fact until you officially read it somewhere else but rumour has it that Karl Lagerfeld will not renew his contract at Chanel and that Albert Elbaz will take his place and Olivier Theyskens will take Albert’s place at Lanvin. Both choices make perfect sense to me. Schaparelli has decided to change directions and do a not so expensive line. Nothing is engraved in cement, these are still just rumours you will have to wait and see.” If true, the sartorial switch-up would be one for the fashion history books, as Lagerfeld is unlikely to take over at another fashion house post-exiting Chanel.

Lagerfeld is 75 years old, so retirement from designing isn’t that unlikely a next step. Regardless, even if he does leave Chanel, there’s no chance this would be the last fashion would hear of the icon. Between directing, photographing, and lending his voice to an animated feature, there’s no shortage of skills up Lagerfeld’s sleeves.

PARIS (Reuters) - French luxury goods group Hermes has resorted to breeding its own crocodiles on farms in Australia to try to meet demand for its leather bags, its chief executive said on Monday.

Customers sometimes have to wait several years for certain exotic-skin bags, which can fetch over 35,000 euros ($48,410).

"It can take three to four crocodiles to make one of our bags so we are now breeding our own crocodiles on our own farms, mainly in Australia," Patrick Thomas told the Reuters Global Luxury Summit in Paris.

Hermes already faces a major challenge producing 3,000 crocodile bags a year, Thomas said, adding: "The world is not full of crocodiles, except the stock exchange!"

Crocodile farming can be expensive, with the reptiles having to be kept apart in separate rooms to protect their skins from bites, but even so allowances have to be made for natural losses that can amount to around a third of bred crocodiles.

Hermes' leather goods, which account for 40 percent of its business, have been the most robust in the current downturn with the group taking on 50-100 leather workers this year to add to the 2,000 craftsmen it already employs at French sites.

Thomas admits the group has been pushing other areas of the business, such as fashion and textiles, so it is not so reliant on leather bags, but says this area continues to be its fastest-growing product line.

"We cannot face demand. We have massive over-demand. We are limited by our ability to train new craftsmen," he added.

Christian Lacroix, the French couturier whose artistic and exuberant pouf dresses propelled him to fame in the 1980s, became the latest victim of the global financial crisis Thursday as the U.S.-owned fashion house bearing his name filed for court protection from creditors.

The voluntary petition, similar to Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States, was filed with the commercial court in Paris, which will decide whether to restructure or liquidate the company.

Although Lacroix’s chief executive officer, Nicolas Topiol, emphasized that the brand intended to continue operating during the process, the news brings an end to a luxury business model for which Lacroix was the last of the Mohicans.

Founded in 1987 by Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive of LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), the concept was to start with haute couture, at the apex of the luxury pyramid, and develop from it a range of ready-to-wear, accessories and fragrances. This was the system that had reaped mighty profits for established houses like Christian Dior and Chanel.

But despite years of critical success, the company failed to break even, let alone turn a profit. Mr. Arnault sold Lacroix in 2005 to the Florida-based Falic Group, known for its Duty Free Americas chain. The Falic brothers aimed to refocus the luxury brand at the peak, subsequently suppressing the lower-priced clothing and jeans lines.

“Since the acquisition of Christian Lacroix SNC, we have been committed to the brand and to its high-end development,” Mr. Topiol said in a statement. “We will continue to do so but the sharp downturn of the luxury market has significantly hurt our revenues.”

The owners had been in discussion with potential financial partners and investors for the past year, according to Mr. Topiol, who said that “this process which was in its final phase, was directly hit by the conditions of the financial markets and could not be finalized prior to the filing.”

According to people with knowledge of the situation, Lacroix was badly hit in the United States, where it has opened two stores in New York and Las Vegas and where buyers have recently reduced or canceled orders. Ready-to-wear sales for the coming autumn season were down 35 percent and losses for 2008 were €10 million, or $14 million, on overall revenues of approximately €30 million.

Mr. Topiol’s statement said only that the “long-term strategy for repositioning of the brand was dramatically hindered” by the financial crisis.

That has been evident for some time across the luxury sector, where even the biggest players are being hurt by recession and financial turmoil. LVMH, the world's biggest luxury goods company, recently scrapped a plan to open a Louis Vuitton flagship store in Tokyo. Early this year, Chanel announced the layoffs of 200 temporary employees.

Versace, an independent Italian house, is currently in a state of turmoil, announcing that revenues fell 13 percent in the first quarter of the year. The board of directors this week approved a three-year plan to steer the company through the economic crisis, while continuing to deny rumors that its chief executive of four years, Giancarlo Di Risio, will soon exit the company.

The lessons seem to be that it is now difficult to survive in high fashion without being part of a corporate group with recourse to investment for product development and flagship stores, and that the pyramid model is no longer viable.

The modern strategy, as exemplified by the growth of the Giorgio Armani brand, is a sunburst, with the designer at the epicenter and all product categories (except sunglasses, which are technically demanding) under the brand control.

Yet, significantly, an Armani Privé couture line was created to add prestige and a direct link with celebrity clients.

The loss of Christian Lacroix to Paris haute couture is immeasurable. Although the designer hopes to hold a small presentation during the July couture season, this was the last house established under the formal couture rules. Even a restructuring would likely have severe implications on his 125-member staff.

The grandeur and artistry of the couturier’s work was displayed earlier this month in the sumptuous gown created for Philomèna de Tornos, the bride of Jean de France, Duc de Vendôme, a descendent of the French royal dynasty.

But just as royalty now has less attention than celebrity, so couture has lost its unique prestige, with the word bandied about by any high-end designer. And whereas fragrances produced from the mystique of haute couture once kept the houses afloat, now it is just as likely that a hip jeans brand like Diesel or a celebrity like Jennifer Lopez will have the perfume hit that has stubbornly eluded Lacroix. Mr. Lacroix, who received the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in 2002, for services to fashion, has other strings to his bow, apart from his colorful and sophisticated collections. He was creative director for Emilio Pucci, the Italian fashion house, from 2002 to 2005, while he was still within the LVMH group.

The designer also has his own XCLX company, for which he has created decor for the French TGV high-speed train, as well as hotel interiors and uniforms for Air France. He has also designed for theater, opera and dance and acted as curator for fashion exhibits, including one currently at the National Museum of Singapore.

Ever since i moved back into our house, im stuck in my sisters former bedroom and not that i dont like it but i really dont think its me. the onle thing i like in my room is my chic mosquito net that's given to me by P for my birthday.

I was checking out this new upholstery fabric store near my dads office when I saw this nice little damask fabric and said i want my new bed like this. So i called a interior designer friend of mine to help me come up with ideas and came up with these. I want something very me something very classic looking but done in a modern way, something elegant but not something pretentious. something comfortable and relaxing but very stylish as well.

This mirror side table is so chic, no need to go to the bathroom to look at myself every morning (looks expensive too there goes my bangkok shopping money)

I already have a crystal lamp but it doesnt have a partner so im going to scramble evangelista for something like this although the shade has to be done in another color

this is actually quite a cute chair but id want it in another fabric maybe in tweed or damask.

Something to place my little collection of little paintings and trinkets from travels and memorable pictures of me and lovey

And ofcourse the focal point of the room, the bed im thinking of a higher head board but in the same or similar damask fabric.. im thinking of omitting the dado cap and just use plain gray walls instead.

Ive always believed then when we are troubled or in times of difficulty, it is nice to look at beautiful things because it bring us to a world of perfection, it takes us back to our comfort zones and even just for a mere second makes our problems go away.

I think Giambattista Valli's collection is the perfect example. His clothes were less extravagant as compared to his previous collections (it is appropriate not to be too "flashy"during times like these) but it was still as glamorous and beautifully constructed as ever. He also sent a message of positivism, that there will be a brighter future ahead.

I guess in time of pandemonium and disarray, its nice to hear something nice being said about our country. Anthony Bourdain of the famous tv show, No reservations, travels through Manila, Pangpamga and Cebu to explore local dishes from tapsilog, Sisig and ofcourse Lechon Cebu Heres a clip from his blog.

I'm very nervous about tonight's Philippines show.

I'm all too aware of the fact that the country is made up of over seven THOUSAND islands and that I visited exactly two of them. The food is intensely regional ... I mean, even the difference between the food in Manila and Pampanga -- only a couple of hours away --is striking. So I missed ... a lot.

I'm very aware of how many Filipino fans we have -- and how enthusiastic they are about us (finally) covering their country. I wanted very badly to do a good job on this one. But I fear there's no way we got it "right."

Not that I didn't have a great time. I did.

For one thing, I settled a karmic debt of sorts: Augusto Elefano, who'd argued so fervently for his country of ancestry on the previous season's FAN-atic special had been sent home short of the prize after a brutal interrogation at my hands. Impressed by his zeal and feeling guilty about smashing his hopes and dreams I felt that Cebu would be good to see through his eyes. So we packed him, his wife and baby daughter onto a plane -- and sent them off into TV Land.

What we did get right, I'm quite sure, was making sure that the amazing, porky delights of "sisig" got plenty of camera time. If you've never had this divine mosaic of pig parts, chopped and served sizzling and crisp on one side on a screaming hot platter, then you've yet to have one of the world's best beer drinking dishes. And speaking of pig? It can now be said that of all the whole roasted pigs I've had all over the world, the slow roasted lechon I had on Cebu was the best. This puts the standings in the Hierarchy of Pork as follows:

#3. Puerto Rico

If nothing else, I hope that homesick Filipinos living abroad get a glimpse of some of the food and scenery they've no doubt been missing. And for viewers who weren't previously familiar with the wide and tasty spectrum of flavors available over there, I hope the sight of me shoving a lot of very tasty stuff into my maw provides -- if nothing else -- inspiration to look further.

I honestly admit that after seeing the Pangpanga part of the program, I missed eating in my lola's or my "Mommy Menggay's" kitchen. My dads side is pure kapangpangan, we were raised with good food on the table as my lola was a very good cook. I would always look forward to the sticky tocino with "gatas ng kalabaw" on the rice, crabs cooked in gata and her corn soup that until now makes me salivate when i think about it. Every christmas we would have "Nilagang Pasko" its a stew with everything in it, from Ham, Chicken, Brains and Beef. We would often joke that its only prepared once a year because we would all die from the choloesterol if it was served everyday.

Its also nice how the program disects Filipino Cuisine and its Influences, and how we were able to adapt through the influences of other cultures and how it affected our local taste buds.

No im not in the kitchen... these are the faucets and drying areas in our textile design lab.. yes im back in school. Actually its my 2nd term to be back but thanks to rcxy's advice i shall try and blog my back to school experience :) going to school again is actually quite fun. Im surprised everyday by the SDA bulding and i actually am proud that i am going to such a really nice design school.

Anyways my first project when i went back to school was to discharge dye some fabric and make some quirky patterns using knots and clamps.. very 70's? well heres the result..

its actually interesting that the denim i used turned red upon reacting with the bleach :)

My mom is the same age as maddonna, I think i was made while listening to maddonna. when she had a miscarriage she watched the madonna concert everyday and had a crush on one of her dancers. i cant wait to show her these pictures.. :)

sorry for not updating lately upper east siders :) It has been a good 2008, I was able to do some nice things with my career, went back to school and met the love of my life. Yes it has been a good year but i am looking forward to a really nice 2009! keeping my fingers crossed! thank you to all my friends for the support this year and i will truly miss a dear friend who has gone ahead to that big party in the sky.

since the Christmas season is almost coming. i think its time for a wish list entry. 1st on my wish list is the Dior homme dermo system.

This is a follow up pose on Anna Netrebko and how they modernize operas to the times, In this perfomance of Libamo ne'lieti calici, more proparly known as Brindisi in Verdi's infamous opera "la traviata", the set and costumes are modern even the cast is young yet still as fabulous as the fat and old opera singers.

I seriously think they got inspiration from Madonna's Material Girl Mtv.

What do u think? Is opera now fit for the times?

Compare it to this old version of the same song and same opera.. (but i still think Domingo is fierce)

Anna Netrebko, My new Obsession,

Sundays are usually spent with my gorgeous P, Gorging for really nice food and then going to metrowalk to get our Dvd fix, I was very disappointed when my suki told me that they dont have any new opera dvd's out, so i settled for a dvd of the Berlin Concert since i saw Placido Domingo was in it. While i was making my report for school i placed the dvd on and started to type away, the second song was O Mio Bambino caro, To tell you quite frankly I have never really liked that song before. But then came A beautiful young woman with a beuatiful strapless violet tafetta gown and an stunning diamond and pearl suite. Her voice captured me, and for the first time loved O mio bambino caro, and could feel the love of a mother to her son through her delivery.. then i stopped my report and was compelety drawn into her skipping the other performances and just watching hers.

Her face remind me of a young Maria Callas, she is also known to have a penchant for fashion appearing in alot of fashion magazines. I can say that she will be the new face of opera, maybe making it more interesting to younger people as she does not look like a fat old woman screaming her heart of the stage.

I cant wait to start to build my Anna Netrebko library in I tunes, as i know she will make me inspired

I have to look for her singing O casta Diva, As she will be the next diva in Opera.
